The months are flying by and we’re facing the cold rainy days of winter. Today we’re time-travelling and teleporting you 3 months back to one of the most beautiful days in Autumn, the 26th of March 2011. The weather was PERFECT and the GELIEFT-brides looked ravishing in their bespoke Wedding Gowns!
We had the privilege to share in the happiness of 2 brides on this particular day. The first being, Lichelle du Plessis who’s blog post, True love lasts forever, we featured a little while ago, just as Kate Middleton married her beloved Prince ‘Charming’ William. The Second lucky lady that got married on the 26th was Monique Ferreira to André Louw at the lovely La Petite Dauphine in the Franschoek Valley. We met Monique in 2010, as she was referred by her Wedding Coordinator Izandi van Wyk of I DO Weddings to book a consultation for her DREAM GOWN at Gelieft. Monique was very excited about their Wedding and diligently planned it with the help of Izandi.
We had to push the envelope for this one-of-a-kind Wedding Gown, as the objective was to create something elegant and sophisticated, yet sensually flamboyant! We used the unexpected combination of Mauve Grey Silk, Silver Lurex Chantilly Lace, Snow White Fine Chantilly Lace, Embellished corded lace and Cationic Chiffon lined with mink silver elegant satin. The silhouette was femininely cut to flatter her beautiful figure-lending the design a classic and stylish feel. The combination of different fabrics made the gown unique and daring! The finishing touch was a beautiful satin ribbon tied in the waist with a bow and a stunning Vintage brooch!!!
This dress was truly a work of art. All of the lace appliqué on the corseted bodice was done by hand and took a few days to finish! All done with attention to detail and lots of LOVE as every GELIEFT-Gown!
The Brides shoes by Anella was dyed to match the mink elegant satin.
The day was captured through the lens of well known Cape Town Photographer Christine Meintjes. We just love the classic nostalgic feel of each image, encapsulating the emotions of Monique and André’s wedding day! Well Done Christine!
